On my occasional drive to Brea, I kept noticing this restaurant called, “Alicia’s,” with its wooden swing and flowered patio outside. So one Saturday I walked in. When I looked at their menu, I was impressed by their large number of selections. I decided to try their version of bagel and lox. My meal arrived in a matter of minutes in a straw basket. My bagel was loaded with lox, cream cheese, tomato, cucumber, capers, and red onion. What a taste sensation!
Alicia’s specializes in breakfasts and lunches, but it also offers dinners as take-home prepared meals and catering services. The cuisine is American, Café, and Soups, all with a mind for healthy eating, and also vegetarian meals.
According to their website, www.aliciasinc.com, Alicia grew up with her father running a restaurant business of his own. Alicia learned all of her cooking and creative skills hands-on in her father’s restaurant.
Then the day came in 1978 when Alicia’s father encouraged her to “leave the nest” and start her own restaurant. She opened as a storefront sandwich shop, but it outgrew its location and relocated to its current site as the full-fledged restaurant it is today.
Other favorite items on Alicia’s menu include her “Pink cloud” and her potato cheese soup. You can view their extensive menu (offering over twenty sandwiches plus eight special sandwiches, nine salads, and seven specialties) at their website.
In addition to the regular menu, Alicia’s also offers a menu for each of three special events: Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. You can get more information online on ordering these meals at www.aliciasinc.com/alicias/catering.asp#holidaymenus.
